Inclusion

Beauty for all

As early as 1934, with DOP the first mass market shampoo, L'Oréal Groupe committed to a universal and democratized beauty. Today, our dedication to inclusion translates into developing high-quality, effective, and safe formulas for everyone. Our researchers have relentlessly pursued innovations tailored to each individual’s needs and aspirations, regardless of their skin type, hair type, gender, age, origin, or identity.

Diversity and inclusion are powerful drivers of innovation. It was the desire to offer sun protection adapted to every phototype that led to the launch of Anthelios in 1985, a world first from La Roche-Posay and a good example of our early commitments to inclusive beauty.

This year, we introduced a new patented active ingredient, Melasyl, designed to combat pigmentation disorders and dark spots. Melasyl provides an effective solution against excess melanin for all ages and skin types.

Inclusion also extends to technology. Thanks to AI, it's now possible to find the perfect foundation shade to match your skin tone, from among 90,000 possibilities (Lancôme's Shade Finder) or to empower people with limited mobility to apply makeup independently (HAPTA).

L’ORÉAL PARIS ACCORD PARFAIT - 2004

L’Oréal Groupe’s commitment to inclusive beauty took a decisive turn in 2004 with the launch of Accord Parfait, the foundation and makeup range from L’Oréal Paris. The challenge: to cater for all types of beauty across the globe, encompassing every skin type and tone.

At launch, Accord Parfait included 24 foundation shades, almost twice as many as other brands offered at the time. Today, the range has expanded to 48 shades, ensuring that 99.5% of women can find their perfect match.

LANCÔME SHADE FINDER - 2021

Navigating the vast array of makeup shades available today can be overwhelming. The Lancôme Shade Finder was created exactly for that: to simplify the search for the perfect foundation. This innovative tool combines artificial intelligence with the expertise of Lancôme makeup artists from around the world, relying on a unique algorithm capable of analyzing up to 22,000 skin tones while considering both surface shade and undertones.

This inclusive technology provides a personalized recommendation that takes into account shade, finish, and texture, all within minutes, for a tailored and enhanced beauty experience.
