Introduction to Head Up: a program to support the hair pro community
Did you know hairstylists are exposed to more than 2000 hours* ofconversations during the year from their clients?
They offer a service that goes beyond the physical transformation of a haircut or hair color. Indeed, hair pros provide social and emotional support; as a matter of fact, 75%** of clients consider going to their hairstylists as a form of self-care. Being a hair professional is to be a listener.
Aware of the pivotal role that hairstylists play in our society, L’Oréal Professionnel has always developed and elevated the industry. The most recent example is during the COVID when hair pros were left with no activity and an important level of stress. L’Oréal Professionnel created “Stand for Pros”, an initiative to support hair pros with free e-learning an emotional comfort and payment facilities measures.
The brand conducted two studies which revealed that mental health is the #1*** challenge for hair pros within 6 countries, and that 65%** of hairstylists have experienced anxiety, burnout or depression during their professional career.

"Hairstylists offer a service that goes beyond a physical transformation as they care, listen, and are here for us. At L’Oréal Professionnel, it is our duty to raise awareness on their mental health and give them tools to build resilience. We are proud to launch Head Up and we hope that this long-term program will contribute to help the professional industry." concludes Anne Machet - International General Manager of L’Oréal Professionnel.
