More Than 40000 Formulas Screened In Two Years
Two formulas can be compared only if they offer identical benefits for the consumer. For instance, conventional shampoo couldn't compare with another shampoo that would offer anti-dandruff qualities.
Shampoos, conditioners, shower gels, skincare products, cleansers, hair colouring, styling products, perms, deodorants, suncare products, makeup and fragrances...: our experts analysed all types of product the Group makes. The 40,000 formulas composing them were defined in 143 categories based on the benefits offered to consumers.
Conventional shampoo couldn't compare with another shampoo that would offer anti-dandruff qualities.
For each of these 143 categories, a baseline was determined, corresponding to the weighted average of 2013 sales volume (or 2014 if the product type was not available in 2013) for the two indicators (biodegradability and water footprint). By the end of 2015, all values for these two indicators were made available to L’Oréal formula developers.
This screening lasted for two years. By the end of 2015, all values for these two indicators were made available to L’Oréal formula developers, with an eco-design tool developed to ensure that all new formulas deliver an improved environmental profile while offering the same benefits to the consumer.
