Settimo, A Model Of Good Environmental Performance
Established in 1959, the Group’s Settimo plant in Italy specialises in producing make-up and hair care products.
The plant achieved carbon neutrality in 2015 due to its innovative energy mix. It is 45% heated by biogas, with the remainder coming from the town’s district heating network, to which the plant is connected. Two thirds of its electricity needs are met by a biomass power station, with the remainder derived from 14,000 photovoltaic solar panels.
In 2017, the Settimo plant was able to further increase its energy efficiency by taking advantage of its water programme. The heat arising from the washing water is now recaptured and reused, and the energy needs of the water treatment station’s ventilators were reduced by a third.
