2021 Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras
L’Oréal Australia was proud to rise together to celebrate and promote Human Rights, Diversity, Inclusion and Pride
On Saturday 6th March, L’Oréal Australia was proud to be a Major Partner of the 2021 Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras. This year, the festival took over the Sydney Cricket Ground, delivering an incredible showcase of the LGBTQI+ community for all of Australia, in a COVID-Safe environment.
A stadium crowd of 36,000 spectators cheered on as 5,000 marchers, from over 120 parade entries marched onto the field in a vibrant display of diversity and unity.
L’Oréal Australia employees proudly marched, with the opportunity to RISE together and express their true selves. This highlighted how important this event is to individuals and the broader community.
Taking inspiration from our L’Oréal global sense of purpose “Create the beauty that moves the world” - our employees created a spectacular vision of metallic gold as they entered the stadium. We created four statement wings worn by L’Oréal angels signifying movement and freedom, accompanied by hand-made gold capes and skirts lighting up to an acapella version of “Diamonds” by Rhianna.
“The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is not just a party, it’s about standing up for others when they’re unable to stand up for themselves.” says Chloe O’Leary. “Participating in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is a way to use this privilege to empower those whose voices aren’t heard as loud. This important event is a powerful message of love and activism – when people experience the parade there is a greater chance of it growing, influencing and teaching more people and gathering more allies for the LGBTQI+ community.”
This event ensures the celebration of human rights, diversity, inclusion and pride continues! At L’Oréal Australia we know our diversity makes us strong, makes us creative and makes us proud.
