SisterWorks Dandenong Warehousing Program Graduation Ceremony
#WorkEmpowersWomen
On Thursday 15th June, our Distribution Center Manager, Jose Ramirez, and our Sustainability Manager, Olivia Whitaker, attended the SisterWorks Dandenong Warehousing Program Graduation Ceremony. SisterWorks is a not-for-profit social enterprise, with a mission to support women who are refugees, asylum seekers or migrants, to improve their confidence, mental well-being, sense of belonging, and economic outlook. The enterprise’s vision sees an Australia where all migrant women are given the opportunities to become economically empowered.
Coordinated by SisterWorks, the Dandenong Warehousing Program is comprised of a 7-week course designed to help migrant and refugee women develop valuable skills to obtain employment in a warehouse, in manufacturing and production. We currently have eight dedicated Sisters employed at our Distribution Center in Dandenong South. Jose and Olivia were invited to speak at the Ceremony to share insights about L’Oréal Groupe, their inspiring career journeys, and potential opportunities for the sisters. The Ceremony was engaging, informative, and lots of fun - the celebratory mood was complemented by L’Oréal gift bags, and delicious, traditional dishes from the Sisters’ respective home countries.
To date, SisterWorks has supported more than 800 women from 56 different countries. To further empower migrant and refugee women to access opportunities in the workforce, the Melbourne-based enterprise is starting to share its life-changing Model into other Victorian regions.
Congratulations to all of the Sisters who graduated - we can’t wait to see what you achieve in the future!
