L’Oréal Benelux For Women In Science
Created in 1998 by L’Oréal and UNESCO, the program For Women in Science honors female scientists in their career and addresses the obstacles that stand in the way of scientists so that they can contribute to solving the great challenges of our time.
In 23 years, the program has supported more than 3,600 female researchers from 117 countries. The program highlights scientific talent and aims to encourage young women to choose scientific careers.
L'Oréal Benelux and UNESCO For Women in Science fellowships are awarded with the support of the Dutch Institute for Advanced Study (NIAS) and the National Network of Women Professors (LNVH).
The program aims to contribute to increasing the number of female professors. Since its establishment in 2012, the Dutch fellowships have rewarded two women (fellows) every year for the excellence of their work, their courage and their commitment within the field of scientific research.
These fellowships worth 25,000 euros allow women to spend five months at NIAS to further their scientific work. The international and interdisciplinary environment inspires the generation of new approaches and ideas that can realize ground-breaking academic work. The fellowships are awarded to outstanding female scientists in the period up to ten years after their PhD within the field of Life Sciences.
