L’Oréal Hong Kong Raises Funds for Hong Kong Cancer Fund under “Movember”
L’Oréal Hong Kong joined the global effort to raise awareness about men’s health with #movemberxloreal.
In November 2019, L’Oréal Hong Kong took action to support men’s health around the world by participating in the “Movember” initiative to raise funds for Hong Kong Cancer Fund.
Moustaches That Matter
Men die an average of six years younger than women for reasons that are often preventable, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, suicide and the health impacts of physical inactivity.
L’Oréal Hong Kong rallied its employees around L’Oréal’s worldwide movement to help the Movember Foundation raise funds and awareness for these important men’s health issues with a month-long challenge to grow a moustache in November.
Six men from our Hong Kong office jumped at the opportunity to become starters for conversations with the shared values of self-realization, wellness and community—inside the industry and beyond. “It’s important that we spread the message that men’s health is as important as everything else,” said Saurabh Singh, Finance Controlling Director for Luxe Division.
Other forms of participation included running 60km during the month (for the 60 men lost each hour around the world to suicide) or hosting a “Mo-ment” event to raise awareness while having fun with friends.
Aries Yau, Assistant Store Manager of Kiehl’s, said: “Many professions may have grooming guidelines that don’t recommend the growing of moustaches, but there’s something else we can do each day. We can work towards achieving work-life-balance every day and influence our peers too.”
Global Movement, Local Impact
L’Oréal Hong Kong joined the global effort to raise awareness across social media with #movemberxloreal. Donations to L’Oréal Hong Kong’s local team benefited the Hong Kong Cancer Fund.
In Hong Kong, prostate cancer is the third most common form of cancer in men, with more than 1,900 men diagnosed each year and an estimated 400 annual fatalities. Movember is the only global charity in Hong Kong focused solely on men’s health.
