L'Oréal And Histovery Reconstruct Notre-Dame De Paris Using Technology
A dive into the history of Notre-Dame de Paris thanks to augmented reality
Premiering at the Dubai World Expo "Notre-Dame de Paris, l’Expérience" is an inspiring immersion into the history of the cathedral. Sponsored by L'Oréal and developed by the start-up Histovery, this virtual and interactive exhibition is a demonstration of what Tech can do for heritage and beauty.
Bringing heritage back to life through technology
Take a look back through the history of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris since its construction, admire the building in all its aspects and discover the reconstruction following the fire in 2019.
The event, organized in collaboration between L'Oréal and the Public Institution in charge of the conservation and the restoration of the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, is premiered at the France Pavilion of the Dubai World Expo from 1st October to 1st November 2021.
In the spring of 2022, the enriched exhibition will be in Paris, at the Collège des Bernardins. It will then travel from continent to continent for as long as the cathedral's reconstruction project lasts. This is an innovative experience to share the history of the monument, and an opportunity to highlight those involved in its preservation.
"I would like to warmly thank L’Oréal for having made this immersive and innovative experience possible. Thanks to Histovery’s expertise, visitors will now be able to experience the cathedral’s restoration site from the inside and discover the expertise and skills of the different trades that have come together."
Army General Jean-Louis Georgelin,
President of the Public Institution responsible for the conservation and restoration of Notre-Dame de Paris
A unique and immersive virtual experience
Thanks to the technological know-how developed by the French start-up Histovery, the exhibition is a real virtual dive into the history of the cathedral and the complexity of its architecture.
Equipped with a HistoPad, an augmented reality tablet developed by Histovery, visitors are immersed in interactive reconstructions. Thanks to them, visitors go back in time and experience the construction of the cathedral in the Middle Ages.
This innovative museographic device, combining augmented reality and tablet, allows visitors to experience how technology can contribute to culture, heritage enhancement and beauty preservation.
"L’Oréal is proud to support this project dedicated to Notre-Dame and created by Histovery. The terrible fire that struck the cathedral shocked and saddened people all over the world. This exhibition will be an opportunity to tell the story of this World Heritage treasure through an innovative and engaging interpretive experience."
Jean-Paul Agon, Chairman & CEO of L'Oréal
